This cool t-shirt is from the Centennial Olympics, also known as Atlanta 1996. Taking place in Atlanta Georgia, in 1996, one hundred years after the first modern Olympics, which took place in 1896 in Athens, Greece, the games were made up of 271 events in 26 sports, and featured the debut of softball, beach volleyball, and mountain biking.
These games had quite a few historic moments, maybe the most memorable being from American gymnast Kerri Strug. She vaulted with an injured ankle and landed on one foot! This epic performance rewarded her the gold. Also notable, Amy Van Dyken, American swimmer, became the first American women to win four gold in one Olympiad.
