This vintage tee features the 70s ad campaign for Lone Star Beer featuring their iconic Giant Armadillo. The graphic shows the armadillo building a sand replica of a Lone Star longneck bottle.
Jerry Retzloff, marketing manager for the beer company, boosted sales tremendously during the 1970s. Largely by using his connections to Texas musicians like Willie Nelson, Red Steagall, and Two Tons of Steel.
Lone Star Beer has been mentioned in many popular country songs like Whitney Morgan's Buick City. The beer has also had numerous cameos on shows like King of the Hill, True Detective, and The Big Bang Theory.
Tag says large but this shirt fits like a modern unisex adult medium.
This item is from the estate of Craig MacGregor, the bassist for the band Foghat in the 1970s, 80s, and again in the 2000’s. The item was owned by Craig, a collector of t-shirts, and stored for some time in a basement before it came into our possession. As a result there may be some lingering basement odor. All items are authentic pieces of rock and roll history and in many cases are one-of-a-kind. Further authentication and chain-of-custody can be provided upon request.
