This amazing vintage tee is from 1992 and it celebrates the music of Prince and his newly formed backing band, The New Power Generation. This shirt features double-sided graphics including an image of the Love Symbol made from the titles of all the albums that had been released by the artist up to that point. These included For You, Dirty Mind, Controversy, 1999, Purple Rain, and Diamonds and Pearls, among others. In 1992, Prince and the New Power Generation released the musician's fourteenth studio album, which had no pronounceable name. The album was just titled using what became known as the Love Symbol, and the character would later become literally synonymous with the artist known as Prince.

Prince formally adopted the Love Symbol as his stage name in 1993. He did this in rebellion against his record company Warner Bros. who refused to release the artist's enormous backlog at a steady pace. In order to accommodate this name change for print, Warner Bros. had to send out a mass of floppy disks containing a custom font that included the symbol.
