This awesome shirt promotes a tour for one of the greatest fictional bands of all time, Spinal Tap. This fictitious heavy metal group were the stars of Rob Reiner's directorial debut, the 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap. While the movie gained critical acclaim upon its release, the film's off-the-wall humor went over some audiences' heads, as many people mistook Spinal Tap for a real band. This common misconception just shows how perfectly the movie managed to nail its satire of the rock n roll industry, and the film later gained a successful cult following after it was released on VHS.
While the band was fictional, they did produce an actual studio album in 1992, titled Break Like the Wind. The album was also promoted via an actual concert tour, and footage from the tour was incorporated into a made-for-TV sequel called The Return of Spinal Tap. Break Like the Wind featured the original actors from the movie reprising their roles as the Spinal Tap band members. This included Micheal McKean as David St. Hubbins, Christopher Guest as Nigel Tufnel, Harry Shearer as Derek Smalls, and R. J. Parnell, who is credited on the album as Ric Shrimpton, likely the brother of Mick Shrimpton, Spinal Tap's former drummer, who according to the film, perished via spontaneous combustion.
Fits like a modern unisex adult large. There is a hole in the left sleeve when wearing, see pics.
