This sweet graphic tee is from the English new wave band Duran Duran. This style of shirt was made and sold during the era of the band's third studio album Seven and the Ragged Tiger. This was the final album for decades with the most well known line-up, which included Simon Le Bon, Roger Taylor, John Taylor, Nick Rhodes, and Andy Taylor. The album's name is in reference to the five band members plus their two managers and the "ragged tiger" represents the difficulties of success. Seven and the Ragged Tiger became Duran Duran's first and last album to reach number one on the UK charts.
Duran Duran was integral in what came to be known as the second British invasion of the 1980s. They were infamous for their provocative music videos and sense of fashion. They rose to popularity quickly and some of their fame in the US can be attributed to their music video "Girls on Film," which was so risqué that even MTV had to censor it. Duran Duran weren't just popular with fans, they were a success with critics and the music industry as a whole. They became the first band to win the Grammy Award for Best Music Video in 1984 when the award was introduced.
