This awesome vintage tee is for the new wave band the B-52s, and it features the graphic off the cover of their 1979 debut album. The album art was designed by Tony Wright who also created covers for Bob Marley, Bob Dylan, and Steve Winwood. This self-titled debut wound up being a great introduction to the band and its kitschy lyrics and quirky sense of humor. The album peaked at number 59 on the Billboard 200 and helped the group to establish a fanbase. It also included one of their most memorable singles "Rock Lobster", which made it onto the Billboard Hot 100.

The B-52s were formed in 1976 and the band featured Cindy Wilson, Ricky Wilson, Kate Pierson, Keith Strickland, and Fred Schneider. During their early years the band made frequent appearances at CBGB and Max's Kansas City. The group's second album, Wild Planet was released in 1980 and it is widely considered by fans to be their best. It featured their certified gold single "Private Idaho" and earned the band a spot performing on Saturday Night Live. They also were asked to perform at the Heatwave festival in Toronto, which was marketed as the "New Wave Woodstock".
