This shirt is in honor of the Azzura, Italian sailing team. The team was created by business man Gianni Agnelli and religious leader Aga Khan IV.

The Costa Smeralda Yatch Club, sponsored the team as the first Italian challenge to the America's Cup. Azzura became the image of competitive sailing, making the team incredibly popular, especially with Italian fans.

The manager of the team was Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, Italian businessman, former chairman of Ferrari and Fiat S.p.A. During the 80s, while holding powerful positions at Fiat and Cinzano, he became the manager of the Organization Committee for 1990 World Cup Italia. Skipper of Azzurra, Cino Ricci, devoted himself to journalistic commentary on the main nautical events.
