The Subway Series is a term used to refer to any series between the two New York teams and is called such because the game is always accessible via the NY subway system. The 2000 Subway Series saw the Yankees beat the Mets 4 games to 1. This clinched the 26th national championship title for the Yankees and was also the first time a visiting team won a World Series at Mets' Shea Stadium. In honor of the series, the city decorated some of the trains on the 4 and 7 lines because they ran to Shea Stadium and Old Yankee Stadium respectively.
