This awesome tee is for music legend Elvis Costello's debut album My Aim Is True. Costello got his start playing pubs in Liverpool and London to little success. He managed to get signed by a newly founded record company, Stiff, and recorded My Aim Is True while continuing to work his day job as a data entry clerk. Around this time is when he changed his performing name to Elvis Costello, named for Elvis Presley, which was a suggestion from his manager. Costello's label released a few singles but they weren't too successful. It wasn't until the full album was released that Costello's talent was realized.
My Aim Is True was released in the summer of '77 in Britain and the fall of the same year in the United States. The album was extremely well received by critics in both countries, many hailing it the best debut album of all time. Costello was influenced by several genres, like new wave, rockabilly, punk rock, and of course pub rock where he got his start. The album was praised for its complex sound and Costello's ability to work across genres. Although released over 40 years ago, My Aim Is True continues to be included on "greatest albums of all time" lists and it's still considered the pinnacle of Costello's work.
