Springsteen was still in the early days of his soon-to-be epic career at the start of the seventies. During this time, he released albums like Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ and The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle. The Boss enjoyed moderate success up until releasing Born to Run (1975) and Darkness on the Edge of Town (1978). These albums launched Springsteen into commercial success, with his most renown release debuting in 1984, Born in the USA.
Springsteen was a local of the Jersey Shore where he played at neighborhood venues with the group Steel Mill. His musical talent and unique lyrical style helped him grow a steady following until he was signed to Columbia Records by Clive Davis in 1972. By this point in time, Springsteen was already performing with the group that would come to be known as the E Street Band. This backing band consisted of several other local musicians from around the Asbury Park area of New Jersey.
The Boss has a long list of career achievements spanning over five decades. Among his many achievements are 20 Grammys, an Academy Award, 2 Golden Globes, and a Special Tony Award. He is #23 on Greatest Artists of All Time by Rolling Stone, and regarded as one of the best-selling music artists in the world with over 150 million records sold globally.
