This sweet shirt is a keepsake from a tour of the salt mines in Detroit, Michigan. One of Michigan's best kept secrets is the hundreds of acres of salt mines directly below the city of Detroit. These salt deposits are the remnants of an ancient ocean that evaporated over the span of millions of years. The rock salt deposits were first discovered in the late 19th century and the mine officially opened by 1910. This shirt must have come from a trip to the mines after 1983 but before 1997, which is when Crystal Mines Inc. owned the mine. The mine continues to be active, mostly producing deicing road salt for the Midwest.

Fits like a modern unisex adult large. Small paint spots and thin spots on the front, see pics.
