This sweet vintage shirt is for the English singer-songwriter Elton John for his 1988 album Reg Strikes Back. Released by AIR in London, this was the musician's self-proclaimed comeback album and his own way of fighting against bad press. The name Reg in the title refers to John's birth name Reginald Kenneth Dwight. This was the first album to be recorded and released after the singer underwent throat surgery the previous year. The album cover was decorated with a collection of elaborate costumes that John decided to put up for auction.
The album featured several singles including "I Don't Wanna Go On with You Like That", "Town of Plenty", "A Word in Spanish", and "Mona Lisa and the Mad Hatters (Part Two)". A tour was launched to promote the album, the first after John's year off to recover from his surgery. It kicked off at an AIDS benefit at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. The US leg of the tour then ended with a performance at Madison Square Garden and afterwards John went on to record his follow-up album Sleeping With the Past.
