This sweet vintage concert tee is for the seminal punk band the Ramones, and it comes from a 1981 Tour of Europe. The Ramones were first formed in Queens, New York in the mid 70s, and while they never achieved much mainstream success throughout their career, they were integral to shaping the American punk movement.
In 1981, the group released their sixth studio album, titled Pleasant Dreams. Like their previous records, the album was released through Sire Records, who hired Graham Gouldman to serve as producer. Gouldman was an acclaimed songwriter known for working with groups like the Yardbirds and Herman's Hermits. The hope was that a well-known producer would help to broaden the band's commercial appeal, but the album still only made it to the No. 58 spot on the Billboard 200.
However, broad appeal didn't matter to the Ramones' loyal punk fans. While the single didn't chart, Pleasant Dreams still managed to produce one of the band's most well known songs, "The KKK Took My Baby Away". The band had also released other notable singles in the year before their European Tour. These included "Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio" and "Baby, I Love You", which was a cover of the Ronnettes' song from the 1960s. The latter wound up becoming the band's biggest hit in the UK, peaking at No. 8 on the charts.
Fits like a modern unisex adult medium. This shirt is faded with some runs on the front, see pics.
