This sweet vintage shirt pays homage to the 1993 science fiction comedy film, Coneheads, which was based off of the popular Saturday Night Live sketch that debuted in the 70s. The Coneheads were a fictional family of aliens who made their first appearance on a 1977 episode of SNL, hosted by Ralph Nader. This shirt and the movie both feature SNL alumni Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtain as Beldar and Prymaat, and the shirt also includes the quote, "We come from France..." Much of the humor of the Conehead sketches was derived from the aliens' friends and neighbors never catching on that they were extraterrestrials, and the Conehead family's humorous explanation for their out of this world behavior, was simply that they were from France.

For the film adaptation of the sketch, Michelle Burke took over the role of Connie Conehead from Laraine Newman. Newman did however make a cameo in the movie, as did a number of other beloved former SNL cast members including David Spade, Adam Sandler, and Chris Farley. While most critics described the movie as uninspired, audiences generally enjoyed the film for what it was, a simple yet enjoyable, extra long SNL sketch. During filming, Aykroyd brought his daughter to set and she was so tickled by the Conehead costumes that she requested one of her own. Production cast her as a younger version of Connie, just so they had an excuse to fulfill the little girl's request.
