This awesome vintage rock tee is for the band the Grateful Dead and it commemorates their final New Years concert at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco on December 31st 1978.The Grateful Dead played an annual New Years show at the Winterland Ballroom, but this was their last time as the Winterland Ballroom closed down the following day. Othr performer included The Blues Brothers, and New Riders of the Purple Sage. The concert was a five hour long celebration in honor of the Winterland Arena's closing. Guests included guitarist John Cipollina and famed novelist Ken Kesey, known for his novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. The midnight countdown was delivered by actor and SNL alumni Dan Aykroyd.

A recording of the concert was released in 2003 as a four-CD live album titled The Closing of the Winterland. The album was certified Double Platinum by the RIAA and sold over 200,000 units. Songs peformed included "Sugar Magnolia", "Scarlet Begonias", "Me and My Uncle", "Playing in the Band", and "Dark Star".
