This beautiful pullover sweater was hand knit in Ireland back in the 1980s. This cozy vintage find is a traditional Irish Aran sweater, a style which is named for the Aran Islands and characterized by their unique cable knit patterns. Considered by some to be the ultimate symbol of Irish Clan Heritage, these garments have also earned the name fisherman sweaters, thanks to legends that claimed people used to identify the bodies of lost fisherman by looking at the pattern of their sweater. This sweater was made from a gorgeous heathered yarn that features a variety of colors. The colors blend together at a distance and give this sweater a unique purple sort of hue.
