This sweet raglan sweatshirt pays tribute to the Walt Disney Company's beloved cartoon mascot, Mickey Mouse. Walt Disney created Mickey back in the late 1920s with the help of animator Ub Iwerks. The mouse made his silver screen debut in the animated short Steamboat Willie, and Walt Disney himself served as the character's original voice actor. Since his debut, Mickey has grown into a cultural icon, appearing in a plethora of media ranging from comics to movies to video games. Mickey's extensive fame even earned him the distinction of being the first cartoon character to ever receive their own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
This sweatshirt dates back to the 1970s, the same decade that Disney opened their second US theme park, right outside of Orlando, Florida. Mickey's face is plastered all over the parks, and this shirt could have been an early Disneyworld souvenir. In fact, Mickey's visage is so synonymous with the Disney brand that the parks are packed full of hidden instances of his silhouette called "hidden Mickeys". Disney even went through the trouble of purchasing a real life cow, whose spots created a hidden Mickey, and the cow lived at a petting zoo in the Magic Kingdom for several years.
Fits like a modern unisex adult medium. There are some small worn spots, see pics.
