This awesome vintage sweatshirt remembers 1988 Winter Olympics legend, Michael Edwards. Better known as Eddie the Eagle. Edwards was a ski jumper for Great Britain at the '88 Calgary games. Eddie had big shoes to fill as the first Olympic ski jumper for his country since the 20s and his story has taken on a life of its own. He qualified for the Olympics after representing Britain in the 1987 World Championships and ranking 55th in the world. It's said that he found out he was going to the Olympics while staying in a Finnish mental hospital because he couldn't afford rent anywhere else.
Eddie was so bad at ski jumping he was good. He finished last in his events by far, nearly 100 points behind the next to last competitor. He became the underdog that everyone wanted to cheer for. Eddie never qualified for the Olympics again but he went on to have a successful career as a stunt jumper and in 2016, a biopic called Eddie the Eagle was released.
Fits like a modern unisex adult large. Light spots on the front, see pics.
