This New York Yankees hoodie is from the 90s, a transformative time for the iconic baseball team. While they struggled with a losing streak during the late 80s and early 90s, a shift in player acquisition by managers Gene Michael and Buck Showalter seemed to really turn things around. Rather than go for established big-name players, Michael and Showalter looked to the Minor League feeder teams in search of new talent. With that the team signed on eventual hall-of-famers like Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera. Other players of note who were scouted through the minor leagues were outfielder Bernie Williams, pitcher Andy Pettitte, and catcher Jorge Posada.
In 1996, the team finally ended their 18 year championship drought by defeating the Atlanta Braves in the World Series. Their 1998 and 1999 seasons were quite impressive as well. In 98 the team beat the American League record at the time for most wins in a season with 114-48 victories and then went on to sweep the San Diego Padres in the World Series. Next season, during a game against the Montreal Expos, David Cone pitched a perfect game. They then defeated their rival team, the Boston Red Sox, during the American League Championship Series and managed another sweep in their World Series Championship game against the Atlanta Braves!
