This shirt advertises a brand of house paint called Pergament, and it boasts that the latex wall paint has "the winning finish". Pergement was the name of a chain of home improvement stores found throughout New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. The first Pergament store was opened in 1935 in Franklin Square in New York, and the chain operated until the early 2000s. Pergament Home Centers used to specialize in flooring and wallpaper, but also as this t-shirt suggests, they were one of the choice stores to purchase paint. In fact, Pergament was one of the first retailers in the area to begin selling acrylic paint.
