This rad graphic tee features one of the earliest logos for the shoe and sportswear brand, Airwalk. The company was founded in 1986 and this tee is trademarked 1987 which makes it one of Airwalk's earliest garments. Over the years, Airwalk has produced dozens of shoe styles, from basketball shoes to snow boots, but they started off by making skate shoes. The brand broke into the scene with the goal of providing affordable and durable sneakers for skaters. Airwalk experienced ups and downs as a brand while trying to differentiate their products from competitors, like Reebok and Vans. Airwalk was eventually sold to a holding company in 2003 that licensed the rights to the brand to Payless ShoeSource and, later, JCPenny.
