This amazing tee is a rare shirt from the late 90s, that pays tribute to the alternative metal band the Deftones. This shirt features the kama sutra graphic, which was originally printed on promotional tapestries following the release of their album Around the Fur. Around the Fur was the group's second studio album, and they were still gathering a steady and devoted fan base around this time. Much of the Deftones' early success was thanks to word-of-mouth and extensive touring, which paid off when Around the Fur became their first album to gain RIAA certification.
Still the band's career was only on the rise when the kama sutra tapestries were released. A few fans liked the image enough to print the kama sutra graphic onto tees, but the design has become a rare, hot commodity from just before the band's commercial peak.
The kama sutra tapestries were sold while the band toured in 1998, and throughout that year the Deftones performed at notable festivals like Warped Tour and Ozzfest. They then released the critically acclaimed White Pony, which featured their most commercially successful single "Change (In the House of Flies)". It also contained the track "Elite", which won the 2001 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. White Pony became the Deftones' first album to be certified platinum, and it solidified them as one of the hottest alternative artists of the turn of the century.
Fits like a modern unisex adult oversized large. There are some small holes throughout, see pics.
