This cool vintage tee showcases an illustration of the Mars Observer. This robotic space probe was launched by NASA in 1992, to help scientists study the surface, atmosphere, and climate of the planet Mars. The Observer was scheduled to enter the planet's orbit a little less than a year after it was launched, but three days before orbital insertion, Earth lost contact with the spacecraft. While the mission was never completed, it did motivate NASA to continue their research, as the Mars Exploration Program was established the following month.
