This vintage tee pays homage to the glorious Egyptian queen Nerfertari. It's a 1990s original loaded with large eye-catching graphics, lovely cotton feel, and lots of old school charm.
Nefertari Merimut was the first of the Great Royal Wives married to Ramesses the Great. She's often grouped with other iconic Egyptian queens like Cleopatra, Nefertiti, and Hatshepsut. Nefertari's name translates to "beautiful companion". Her beauty was more than skin deep, as she was very highly educated, possessing the ability to both read and write in hieroglyphs.
Nefertari appears on several monuments at Abu Simbel in both the great temple and small temple. The small temple itself is actually dedicated to Nefertari and the goddess Hathor of Ibshek. After her death she was buried in tomb QV66 at the Valley of the Queens, where her tomb is one of the largest found at the site. Several remnants from Nefertari's resting place are on display at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.
