The show required an estimated 180.000 watts of power, and the lighting rig alone held over 1100 lamps, which hung over a futuristic set that featured flying spaceships, lasers, inflatable props, hydraulic stands, and pyrotechnics. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eSomewhere on Tour was launched to promote the release of the group's 1986 platinum album \u003cem\u003eSomewhere in Time\u003c\/em\u003e. Although several songs off the album all center around the theme of space and time such as \"Wasted Years\", \"Caught Somewhere in Time\", \"Deja-Vu\", and \"Stranger in a Strange Land\", it was the not the band's intention to create a concept album. Work on the album began four months after the completion of their extensive World Slavery Tour, which had left the band both physically and creatively exhausted. During the short period of recuperation after the tour, Adrian Smith, Steve Harris, and Dave Murray started experimenting with new equipment and eventually developed a new sound for the band, which utilized guitar synthesizers. \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe experimentation evident on \u003cem\u003eSomewhere in Time\u003c\/em\u003e was present in the next album as well, \u003cem\u003eSeventh Son of a Seventh Son\u003c\/em\u003e. This concept album was the first of the band's to include keyboards performed by both Harris and Smith.
