This sweet vintage tee is in promotion of NewsCenter 4, the former name of WNBC's newscast in New York City. WNBC, or channel 4, is a local NYC TV station and the flagship of the NBC network. The channel holds the impressive distinction of being the oldest continuously operating commercial television network, dating back to 1941. WNBC was responsible for broadcasting the world's first ever official TV advertisement, which they did before a baseball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Brooklyn Dodgers.

WNBC changed its news broadcasts' name to NewsCenter 4 during the 70s. The network had just found success with their new, 5pm newscast and they renamed all of their local newscasts as part of a rebrand. However, the NewsCenter name only lasted for a few years and in 1980, the network renamed the newscasts News 4 New York. The 5pm news was renamed Live at Five and it eventually became the most watched local program in the city.
