This cool long sleeved band shirt is for the group The Smithereens from New Jersey, and the shirt promotes their fourth studio album, Blow Up. This 1991 release contained the band's second single to breach the top 40, "Too Much Passion". The band originated in 1980, and they saw the most success from the late 80s into the mid 90s. Founding members Jim Babjak, Mike Mesaros, and Dennis Diken, were all high school friends that later met vocalist Pat DiNizio through a classified ad.
The Smithereens' music has been described as 1960s-inspired power pop and they drew a lot of influence from east coast roots rock, as well as British bands like The Who and the Clash. The year the band released their first full length studio album, 1986, was the same year that the group appeared as themselves in the Troma film, Class of Nuke 'Em High. In the movie, they can be seen performing their song "Much Too Much".
