This great shirt honors the Umoja Sasa Protect the Blood HIV/AIDS prevention campaign in New York City during the 90s. Umoja sasa is a Swahili phrase that translates to "unity now" and they were a company that distributed condoms through the New York City health department that were especially marketed toward black teenagers. The campaign aimed to raise awareness of HIV prevention strategies in black communities in New York City because research showed that African Americans were more likely to be infected with the disease than any other race. New York City had a long and tragic history during the HIV/AIDS epidemic but thankfully science and medicine has since advanced so that those infected can continue live safe and healthy lives.
