The games of the XXIIIrd Olympiad were affectionately nicknamed, LA84 and they were a huge commercial and financial success. Part of this success was due to the decision to utilize the numerous professional grade sports facilities already built in the city. Events were hosted at many of the area's most iconic venues, including the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, UCLA's Pauley Pavilion, The Forum and the Rose Bowl.
