This was Seger's eleventh studio album, and his fourth one backed by the Silver Bullet Band. It also wound up becoming his first and only number one hit, enjoying six weeks at the top of the Billboard chart. Against the Wind actually managed to dethrone Pink Floyd's seminal album, The Wall, from the top spot.

Released in 1980, Against the Wind marked the peak of Seger's commercial success, although the artist has enjoyed a long and storied career. Seger is known for a number of memorable hits, which helped to establish the heartland rock genre.
