Jump Up!  featured the iconic track "Empty Garden (Hey Hey Johnny)", dedicated to John Lennon, and "Legal Boys" which was co-written by Tim Rice, who would later go on to help John write lyrics for The Lion King and The Road to El Dorado.

"Blue Eyes" was the biggest hit from the album, charting the top of Billboard Adult Contemporary. This was the last album to feature James Newton Howard on keyboards. John's next album was Too Low for Zero in 1983, which included the songs "I'm Still Standing" and "That's Why They Call It The Blues". The latter featured Stevie Wonder on harmonica.
