Goldberg originally had dreams of becoming a football pro, and he briefly played for both the NFL and the CFL, but his football career was cut short by a nasty injury to his lower abdomen and pelvis. During rehabilitation for his injury, Goldberg got into power lifting and became friends with fellow power lifters and pro wrestlers, Lex Luger and Sting, who encouraged Goldberg to give wrestling a try.

Goldberg wound up becoming an incredibly popular figure during the Monday Night Wars between WCW and the WWF.
