This cool vintage tee promotes Memorex Corp. with a neon graphic that reads, "Was it live?" This question was a part of the slogan that was used by the company throughout the 70s and 80s, "Is it live or is it Memorex?" The slogan was used in an ad campaign devised to sell the company's computer tapes. The idea was that Memorex tapes were so high quality that anything recorded on them looked and sounded as real as when it originally happened. This idea was demonstrated in commercials featuring the famous "Queen of Jazz" Ella Fitzgerald, in which she was shown singing a note that shattered glass.

Memorex later expanded their products into disk drives and other equipment compatible with IBM computers. They were then purchased by the Burroughs Corporation, who gradually sold off and shut down various parts of the Memorex brand.
