The movie was directed by Robert Wise who was also responsible for the widely celebrated musical films \u003cem\u003eWest Side Story\u003c\/em\u003e and\u003cem\u003e the Sound of Music\u003c\/em\u003e, and it starred Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal, Hugh Marlowe, Sam Jaffe, Billy Gray, and Frances Bavier.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIn the movie, Gort was portrayed by the actor Lock Martin, who stood an impressive 7'7\".
