This cool vintage shirt was made for an organization formally known as NABS or the North American Benthological Society. Founded in 1953, this group was designed to center around the study of freshwater ecosystems, and was later renamed the Society for Freshwater Science. This shirt was made in 1985 and mentions OSU, likely in reference to Oregon State University. The college has a strong agricultural sciences program and some of the staff from their department of Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Sciences have been prominent members of NABS. This shirt also features an illustration of a juvenile stonefly, a symbol proudly used by NABS, as the presence of stonefly nymphs is considered a strong indicator of excellent water quality.
