This light purple tee is an awesome souvenir from the 70s that reads "Make Mine Women", with an image of two Venus symbols. The Venus symbol has been used to represent the female gender since the mid 1700s, and this double variation is meant to represent Sapphic love or same sex attraction between women.

After the Gay Liberation movement was kicked off in the late 60s, the 70s became an exciting and tumultuous time for lesbians. The fight for gay rights in the 70s included the American Psychiatric Association officially changing their definition of homosexuality, which previously labeled it as a mental illness. Then in 1974 Mareen Colquhoun came out as the first Lesbian Member of Parliament. These cultural advancements coincided with the second wave of feminism, and as a result a generation of lesbian feminists were born to try and fight for the needs of both groups.
