This vintage tee has a cartoon graphic that pokes a bit of fun at the state of Washington, by showing off the "Washington State Bird". The bird pictured is in rough shape thanks to an erupting volcano behind it, and this is intended as a nod to the infamous eruption of Mount St. Helens that occurred in May of 1980.
The 1980 eruption of Mount St. Helens was recorded as a five out of eight on the volcanic explosivity index, and it reduced hundreds of square miles surrounding the volcano to a wasteland. While the natural disaster caused considerable deaths and devastation to Washington's Skamania County, it also led to the development of the area's "Volcano Awareness Month". Every May, the community surrounding Mount St. Helens commemorates the eruption with a series of events discussing volcano safety and honoring the lives that were lost.
The tag says extra large but this shirt fits like a modern unisex adult medium
