This awesome tee commemorates the Ultimate Glory face off between Julio Cesar Chavez and Oscar De La Hoya. The two squared off at Caesars Palace in 1996, to compete for the title of WBC super lightweight champion. This was a highly anticipated match, particularly among Latin boxing fans. While both boxers were of Mexican descent, the Mexican-born Chavez was favored over his American opponent. Chavez also had experience on his side, as this would be the 100th fight of his 16-year long career. However De La Hoya was no pushover. At only 23 years old, De La Hoya was undefeated and eager to win his third world title.
In the end, Chavez was unable to break De La Hoya's winning streak. During the first round, De La Hoya managed to open a nasty gash around Chavez's eye, which negatively affected him for the remainder of the fight. After three more rounds, Chavez was unable to continue due to multiple laceration on his face, and De La Hoya was declared the winner with a TKO.
