This Series ended with the Marlins defeating the Cubs and advancing on to win the World Series against the New York Yankees. However, many people remember this NL Series for the infamous Steve Bartman incident, which may have potentially changed the course of the entire 2003 post season.

The incident occurred during the eighth inning of Game Six, in which the Cubs were up ahead 3-0 and leading the Series three games to two. That's when a Cubs fan named Steve Bartman attempted to catch a fly ball hit by the Marlins. The umpire ruled that the play was not fan interference, and the Marlins subsequently overtook the game, while the Cubs' defense fell into disarray.
