This delightful vintage tee features a heat transfer graphic parodying the popular soda, 7 Up. The shirt showcases 7-Urp, which is actually a spoof of a spoof. The graphic is designed to resemble Wacky Packages, a series of humorous trading cards that was created by the Topps Company, and designed to parody popular consumer products. During the mid-70s, Wacky Packages managed to be Topps' top-selling trading card series, and they even surpassed the baseball cards that the company was best-known for.
Because of their popularity, other companies began to create their own parody images that were similar to the ones found in Wacky Packs. While Topps did produce spoofs of 7 Up soda, their versions were called 6-Urp, 6-Up, and 8-Up. The graphic on this tee was instead part of a line of iron on decals that all featured the copyright INSTA '74. There's not much information surrounding the exact details of this company, but they did offer some other humorous heat transfers, including ones for Cannabis Soup (a parody of Cambell's), Moron Salt (as opposed to Morton's), and Alka-Belcher.
