This rad tie-dye tee celebrates reggae music icon, Bob Marley. The Jamaican artist died young, at only 36 years old, but his short career was legendary and he's become one of the best selling artists in the world. His posthumously released greatest hits album, Legends, broke records as the best selling reggae album of all time. Marley has been honored with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, a top 20 spot on Rolling Stones' list of 100 Greatest Artists of All Time, and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Marley, along with his band the Wailers, released several records in the 70s, including their 1973 hit Catch a Fire. This album marked one of the first times a reggae band was given access to state-of-the-art recording equipment on par with what rock bands of the day were using. This album was an international success that helped catapult Marley's later solo career. Some of his biggest hits from solo era included "War," "Positive Vibration," and "Three Little Birds."
Marley was also an activist who cared deeply for social causes, especially the plights of African and Black people worldwide. He was a practitioner of Rastafarianism, and the Rastafarianism practice of smoking cannabis as a religious sacrament led to Marley becoming an icon for the movement to legalize marijuana.
