This shirt features a wrap around graphic of aloha print flowers and the letters, "CSCLB" which stand for California State College at Long Beach. CSCLB was only referred to as such from 1964-1972 and has since been renamed to California State University, Long Beach.
Long Beach athletics used to be known as the 49ers but are now mostly referred to as Long Beach State, Beach Athletics, or just Beach, since its the only NCAA Division I school with the word "Beach" in its name. Long Beach State has a strong baseball team that is typically referred to as the Long Beach State Dirtbags, and the team is known for being a feeder school for major league teams. MLB players who were recruited from Long Beach State include Evan Longoria and Matt "Duffman" Duffy. The Dirtbags play in the Big West Conference and have made 22 NCAA Tournament appearances since the 60s. The Beach also have a men's basketball team that made it to the NCAA Tournament's elite eight back to back in 1970-1971.
The university is also known for its strong arts program and has produced a number of famous alum, including Steven Spielberg and The X-Files creator Chris Carter. Steve Martin attend CSCLB but eventually transferred to UCLA. Karen Carpenter and Richard Carpenter, of The Carpenters, graduated from CSCLB in 1972 and were the benefactors of the Carpenter Performing Arts Center on campus
