This awesome tee is a souvenir from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida from back in the 80s. The shirt features graphics of two different NASA spaced shuttles, Discovery and Atlantis, the latter of which came to be housed as an attraction at the Center's Visitor Complex. Both rockets took their maiden flights during the 80s, Discovery first in August of 1984 and Atlantis later during October of 1985.
Discovery is probably best known for launching the Hubble Space Telescope, and it was used on multiple Hubble service missions. Discovery was also the first shuttle to embark on a mission following the Challenger tragedy in 1986. Atlantis meanwhile became the second, when it took off on mission STS-27. During that flight, Atlantis became seriously damaged but the crew was instructed to proceed as usual. When the crew eventually returned, Atlantis was deemed the most damaged shuttle to ever successfully land back on Earth, a true miracle for all involved and the Shuttle Program as a whole, since another tragedy so close to the Challenger disaster definitely would have cut off political support.
The Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island is one of ten field centers belonging to NASA, and for many years it has been the primary launch center for human spaceflight in America.
The tag says extra large but this shirt fits like a modern unisex adult medium
