This amazing double-sided heavy metal tee is for the legendary rock group Metallica. The shirt features some incredible 80s graphics designed by famous illustrator Pushead, and lyrics to the band's 1988 song "The Shortest Straw". This song appeared on the group's fourth studio album ...And Justice For All which was their first album to be released following the tragic death of their bassist Cliff Burton.
The album was highly acclaimed by music critics upon its release and it was nominated for the 1989 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental, although it ended up losing to Jethro Tull, leading to much controversy. Metallica still managed to earn their first Grammy Award in 1990 for the single "One" which also appeared on ...And Justice For All.
The awesome graphics depicted on this shirt are typical of illustrator Brian Schroeder, better known as Pushead, who has worked with a number of hardcore and heavy metal musicians. Some of his clients have included Misfits, Dr. Dre, Travis Barker, and Rocket from the Crypt. The cover art of ...And Justice For All was designed by Stephen Gorman, but the album featured interior illustration from Pushead. His images were also used heavily in Metallica's video album 2 of One , which was released in 1989.
