This awesome vintage tee features a graphic of a show flyer for a performance by the southern California punk band Social Distortion at the Grand Olympic Auditorium in March of 1985. Also on the bill that evening were Redd Kross, SSD or Society System Decontrol, and Mad Parade. The Olympic has gained a reputation for being a legendary punk venue. This was largely thanks to the work of promoter Gary Tovar and Goldenvoice Productions, who booked monthly shows by bands like T.S.O.L., Suicidal Tendencies, UK Subs, Circle Jerks, The Dickies, Dead Kennedys, The Vandals, and Bad Religion.
Social Distortion emerged from the Orange County hardcore scene in the late 70s, and since that time the band has consisted of a rotating lineup with the sole consistent member remaining frontman, Mike Ness. This 1985 concert appearance in Los Angeles was actually a rarity of the time considering that Ness's drug habit was reaching its peak. The band had to go on hiatus later that year, as Ness was in and out of multiple rehabilitation centers.
The group eventually resurfaced in 1986, with Ness having successfully completed drug rehabilitation, and they later released their second studio album Prison Bound. This new release saw a change in the band's style. With more of a honky tonk influence, this album marked the band's venture into what's been referred to as cowpunk.
Fits like a modern unisex adult large. Light spots throughout, see pics.
