This cool vintage muscle tee is for the Los Angeles based punk rock band X, and the shirt commemorates the 1983 tour for their fourth studio album More Fun In the New World. The album was released by Elektra Records and it featured songs like "Devil Doll", "Poor Girl", "I Must Not Think Bad Thoughts", and "The New World", which was featured on the soundtrack for the 1986 action comedy film Something Wild.
Although X never achieved much mainstream success, they are considered to have had a significant influence on punk, Americana, and folk music. The group was first formed by Bassist John Doe and guitarist Billy Zoom in the late 70s. Doe's girlfriend, Exene Cervenka eventually joined the band on vocals, while D.J. Bonedrake became the group's drummer. Their first record deal was with the independent label Dangerhouse, and they appeared on an EP compilation alongside other LA punk bands like The Germs, The Bags, The Alley Cats, and Black Randy and the Metrosquad.
During the early 80s, the group signed with Elektra and started moving away from their punk rock roots and towards a more rockabilly influenced sound. Around this time, members of the band, save for Zoom, joined with Dave Alvin and Johnny Ray Bartel to create the band The Knitters as a side project. The Knitters was a way for the group to further explore their interest in folk and country music.
