This cool double-sided shirt has the word "crew" on it, and is for a band called Lunachicks from New York City. Lunachicks was formed in 1987 from a group of high school friends fronted by Theo Kogan. Sonic Youth members Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore were in attendance during one of the group's early shows, and they were impressed enough to send the Lunachicks' demo tape to Paul Smith, which landed the band a deal with his record label, Blast First.
Lunachicks had a few lineup changes over the years, but throughout their history the members have remained primarily female, and the band's formation and early releases coincided with the development of the riot grrrl punk movement. The band has also appeared in several movies, beginning with a low budget horror movie titled Blue Vengeance released in 1992. They were also featured in the 1990s riot grrrl documentary, Not Bad For A Girl.
