The tour was to help promote their eleventh studio album, Crazy World, and the tour was named for the record's debut single. Many fans remember Crazy World thanks to the hit song "Wind of Change", which is often associated with the Revolutions of 1989 and the Fall of the Berlin Wall. The song sold more than 14 million copies around the globe, making it one of the best-selling singles ever conceived.

Crazy World was a great commercial success, and it was the band's second best-selling album in the US, right after Love At First Sting. This was the band's final album to feature their Lovedrive-era lineup, which consisted of Klaus Meine, Rudolf Schenker, Mattias Jabs, Francis Buchholz, and Herman Rarebell.
