This vintage tee is from the iconic British new wave band The Cure. The front features a portrait of lead singer Robert Smith while the back includes lyrics from their song "Treasure" which read, "Remember I was always true. Remember that I always tried. Remember I loved only you. Remember me and smile... For it's better to forget than to remember me and cry."
The song was included on the band's 1996 album Wild Mood Swings, which peaked at the no. 9 spot on the UK charts and no. 12 on the Billboard 200. Other songs from the album included its four singles "The 13th", "Mint Car", "Strange Attraction", and "Gone!". The group started 1996 playing festivals in South America before moving on to tour in support of Wild Mood Swings. The following year they released the compilation album Galore, which featured every one of their singles recorded since 1987.
The Cure was first formed in 1978 in West Sussex, and while the group has gone through multiple lineup changes over the years, Smith has remained the one consistent member. Their music in the early 80s, as well as Smith's unique personal style helped them to have a strong influence over the emerging genre of gothic rock. Their sound eventually evolved to have a lighter more pop oriented sensibility and they are know for their hits such as "The Love Cats", "Just Like Heaven", "Lovesong", and "Friday I'm in Love".
