This sweet double-sided tee was made by the biggest sportswear manufacturer in the world, Nike, and it even features the famous Nike swoosh logo prominently on the back. The front of the tee reads USA 1984 in a stars and stripes font, and the shirt was produced the same year that the 1984 Summer Olympics were hosted in Los Angeles. Despite producing patriotic themed apparel like this, Nike wasn't an official sponsor of the Summer games in LA. However, the brand very cleverly chose to target their marketing around the event.

During the summer of '84 Nike created a commercial ad that showed athletes sporting Nike gear, while Randy Newman's "I Love LA"played in the background. The campaign worked as many people believed Nike was a sponsor for the games, when in actuality Converse was the official sponsor. 1984 was already a big year for Nike as they did sign a sponsorship deal with future Olympian and NBA superstar, Michael Jordan.
